A Visit from Aunt Nikki, Uncle Jeff, Jacob & Lucas!

This last weekend we were blessed to have Uncle Jeff, Aunt Nikki, and cousins Jacob and Lucas come to Atlanta for a weekend visit. We all had a great time. So down time, and some busy time too! The kids were so excited Friday night when they arrived, they all didn't end up settling down and getting to bed til 1am. We were all a little tired the next day. After hanging around the house and heading the the kids soccer games that were eventually canceled due to rain, we ended up cooking hotdogs over the fire for dinner and made smores. We all made our own little mess with the smores, but the kids seemed to enjoy it, and it all went down well. The next day an was action packed day of touring Atlanta. We started the day at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta. I thought we would be there for maybe an hour at best. About 3 hours later, we were still having fun. The picture above is at the entrance.

The whole experience was digital and personalized. You pick your school on your name badge, and there is a RF chip that when you walk by displays it will turn to your school As you can see above, we were able to focus in on the Buckeys and Gators! And yes, even IU was represented though their football program is a bit lacking :) We gave Jeff a hard time about IU.

There were a ton of fun things to do for adults and kids. They had sports center set up where you can call the winner of the game and it tapes you. They also had fight song karaoke and interactive announcer experiences and video games. It was all pretty cool.

At the e,d there is a football field you can do field goals, run through an obstacle course, tackle dummies and then one of the guys throws you the ball for you to run and catch diving onto the mat. Lets just say the boys had some fun with this. I think Drew could had stayed there all day if we would let him.  All the boys tried out the field goal kicks, even Jeff.

And yes, Jeff was pretty proud to accurately make 2 out of 3 of his field goal attempts. He still has it!

Jacob, Lucas, and Drew gave it their all, but didn't quite get it through the goal.

After the hall of fame. We headed to the World of Coke. Which, lets be honest, was really about getting back to the "tasting room" where the kids could suck down any drink of their choice, full of sugar. We all left a little more hyper and a little more nauseous, but it was fun.

Finally, after that, we walked through Olympic Park and went for a ride on the new ferris where downtown. It was pretty cool to be able to see the sites. After a really long day, we ended our day at Fox Bros BBQ, which was just as good as it always is. Nothing beats Fox Bros when you are really hungry!!   Not to be forgotten, just so they had the full Atlanta experience, we even went to the waffle house for breakfast on Monday morning.   What could be better?

The kids had a blast, and we were just so happy we had time to catch up with Jeff and Nikki and everyone spend some time together. It is so rare to be able to carve out time for each other in our crazy busy lives. Something we need to do more often! Drew continues to refer to Lucas as his best friend, and Hannah continues to refer to the "crazy boys.. Drew included". I think Hannah finally gets a touch of what Drew feels when she has girls over all the time. We miss them already and can't wait to see everyone again over Thanksgiving. Thanks for a wonderful weekend, we miss you!
