Hannah's first boo boo ...

It's bound to happen, but you are never prepared for it. Your pride and joy's first boo boo. It was a nice Saturday afternoon and I thought I would take Hannah for a walk to the little shops down the street. We never made it to those shops, I was walking and hit a bump in the sidewalk with the stroller. The carseat she was in actually flipped out of the stroller and landed face down on the sidewalk. Probably the worst moment of my life. I quickly flipped over the carseat to find Hannah's head scratched up. I wasnt' certain if her head make a strong impact with the ground, so frantically, off we went to the ER to get her checked out. After a half hour or so, she was acting like herself, but mom was not. I cried more than Hannah did. I thought the nurses in the hospital were going to have to take more care of me than Hannah. So, Hannah is doing just fine and is healing up nicely. Mom and Dad were worse off than she was. We are just happy everything is ok, and taught us a strong lesson on carseat safety!

Spring has arrived!

Ok, so this picute doesn't look much like spring, but this is Hannah getting ready for her evening walks! Her little hat does a good job of covering her ears during the evening 50 degree walks around the neighborhood. For the next few days, it will be in the low 60's and Hannah can't wait to see a little sunshine and feel some warmth outside, and Dad is excited for BBQ season. It has been a long winter inside with lots of walks around MOA, now we can finally walk around the neighborhood! So far she really enjoys the walks outside however I think we need to focus on the walk down the parkway where it is paved, the sidewalks around here sure seem to be bumpy. You never notice these things until you have to . The best part of the walks is Murphy.... in the past, he seemed to struggle a little, putting all 4 paws on the ground like brakes and only walking when HE wanted to. Now, all you have to do is say "Where's Hannah" and he chases after the stroller as fast as he can go.. it is kinda cute and funny.

Hannah's Toys? Murphy's Toys?

This scene is becoming more and more common each day. I walk into Hannah's room and find not only a pile of Murphy's toys on the rug, but a few of Hannah's as well. The funny thing is, I can see Murphy's confusion, there isn't too much a difference between a dog toy and a baby toy. They are all bright in color, squeak or rattle and are small in size... well, small in size for a small dog. So, the struggle begins. The good news is that Hannah doesnt' really understand that her toys are being stolen right in front of her eyes.. but it is only a matter of time, the screaming will begin. For now, we will be working on improved Murphy training.

Say "Go Gators" and Hannah Smiles...

It is sad but true... there are days that I get bored and home and just dress Hannah up in little outfits just for fun. On this particular day, I got out Hannah's gator shirt and thought I would surprise Dad with a picture of his daughter wearing her Sunday best... her one and only Gator shirt. Little did I know, every time I said... "smile Hannah, Go Gators" she would get the biggest grin on her face and start to actually giggle a little. I thought.. well, let me try a "smile Hannah, "Go Bucks" and see the reaction. I am sad to report, I didn't get the same smile, nor a giggle. Perhaps she is a Gator fan after all? Maybe that is what she was trying to us by making her entrance into the world on Jan 8th shortly before the Gators won the National Championship? As dad always says, I want my daughter to go to school where she can wear flip flops 10 months out of the year.. I can't say I would blame her. So, if you ever want Hannah to smile, chant Go Gators and you will be well on your way!

Hannah says " Go Gators"!

It's March Madness and Hannah is having a good time. Once again, both her favorite teams the Gators and Buckeyes are still in the tournament. She is hoping the finals don't come down to her favorite teams again like they did in football.. sure makes for a tense house hold. Only a few more days until the finals.. not sure if Hannah can take all the excitement!

Bella & Hannah

Hannah and Bella have already become good friends. Bella seems to love "baby hannah" and enjoys holding her. Bella and Hannah will be going to the same school when Hannah starts school in a few weeks when mom goes back to work, hopefully Bella will check up on Hannah every once in a while and teach her all the tricks of surviving school. Bella and her mom Heidi were nice enough to watch Hannah for a few hours so mom could run a few errands, then we all enjoyed lunch together. So, Hannah has now "officially" had her first babysitters and seems to have done really well.

I'm 2 Months Old Today!

Two whole months have already passed! Hannah had her 2 months check up yesterday and weighs 11 lbs, 11 oz and is 23 inches long, falling in the 75 percentile for both weight and height. She sure is a big girl! She also had her first round of shots yesterday and she did well.. she was a little crankier than usual, but I don't blame her, I wouldn't want 5 shots either. Life as a 2 month old seems pretty enjoyable, she spends her days swatting at little animals hanging from her gym, looking at the rainforest scene on her bouncy seat and swinging when she is tired... She loves it when Daddy sings to her and still loves looking in mirrors. The best part of being 2 months old is that she is sleeping through the night, 8 hours at a time. The whole family is happier! She gets out and about every day, with lots of trips to Target and MOA. I think she is going to be a good future Target shopper... she seems to love it there, and she sucks mom into buying her lots of things there that she really doesn't need. In the past 2 months mom and dad have learned that when everyone tells you that they are only little for such a short time, it really is true. Babies grow so fast and change daily. Once you think you have them figured out, they throw you for a loop. And, having a baby truly is life's most amazing experience. Sure, there are hard days, exhausting days, and days that you wish you could have a day to yourself, but the smiles you get in return make it all worth it.. and this is just the beginning, with so many things to look forward to.

It's Another Saturday Night..

Everyone tells you that life as you know competely changes when you have a baby. And.. I would agree, to an extent. Saturday nights went from dinner and a movie, to ordering pizza in and cathing glimpses of Saturday night live while you are wonderding why your baby is crying and won't go to sleep past midnight. It happens, we all have those moment, right? Just plain unhappiness. Babies just express those moments by screaming until 2am rather than perhaps having a glass of wine, or two. So, life as we know has now turned into a scene from a favorite movie of mine, Old School. Our Saturday was spent at the Home and Garden show at the Mpls Convention center trying to figure our what to do with our 25 year old rotting deck - and then ended the night with some pizza at home while a friend and her dog came over to play with Murphy. The reality hit that we can no longer enjoy spur of the moment weekend trips, restaurants that are not kid friendly, sleeping in on weekends .. it has hit home. However, it is all worth it and I would do all over again in a split second. Our Saturdays are now spent as family time.. time I know that we need to keep precious because it will slip away before we know it. Hannah and Murphy keep us in good company, and entertain us better than any movie or night out would, for now :)

"LT" aka Little Todd

She sure is starting to look more and more like her Dad every day. The Dice family nick named her "LT" , Little Todd. She has already found her place on the couch that she likes to watch tv.. just like her dad. (ok, we don't really let her watch tv, just a glance here and there). Personality is still to be determined. She likes to eat a lot, just like mom and dad, she likes to sleep a lot, just like mom and dad. She likes to shop a lot, just like mom, and has a good sense of humor, just like her dad. She is starting to laugh at the cutest things. As time goes on, we will figure her out. Right brain Todd, left brain Erin? Hopefully she is a mix of the two, as we are both pretty extreme. Who knows, we might finally get a taste of our medicine :)
