Warning: lots of pictures!! This last weekend school was closed for a few days for furlough days, so we headed to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to visit 4 of our very favorite people in the world, Kim, Jason, Eleanor and Ben Kourkoules! A visit that was much needed, and much overdue as well. We flew in Friday night and stayed in Downtown Denver. The kids always get a kick out of staying in hotels and we had some good family time.
The next morning we headed to Steamboat, and 3.5 hour drive away. Half way through the drive we stopped a little town for a bathroom break. The kids flipped out with excitement over the snow!!
We loved the breath taking views both to and from Steamboat. We hit the perfect weekend. A mixture of snow, sunshine, and peak fall colors. Couldn't had planned it better if we tried.
Bear with me, as I didn't do the best job, or any job organizing these photos in the right order. Kim, myself, Eleanor and Hannah went horseback riding up a mountain and back down again. Again, gorgeous views. The girls loved it and Hannah says it was her favorite part of the trip.
I have to insert the scenic photos here and there, picture don't do it justice, but it was so pretty!
Yup, city folk on a horse!
My favorite part of the ride was riding through the aspen trees full of fall color and melting snow on the ground with the sun beating on us. Perfection.
You had to be 6 to ride a horse, so the leader let Drew take a little ride with her after we were done. She was very sweet to do that.
Eleanor and Hannah, back together again like no time had passed at all. So cute.
Did I mention the kids loved playing int he snow. Drew was throwing snow balls in the air that the neighbors dog would jump up and eat.
My little mountain boy!!The back of this photo is the gorgeous view that Kim and Jason get to enjoy each and every day. Jealous anyone? I am!
Drew and little Ben! They are almost exactly one year apart, little Ben just turned 3 years old. They were quite cute.
Really the only picture I got of all 4 of them. They were way too busy playing than trying to capture a still photo. Love these kids, hoping they are friends forever.
They all went sledding and loved it, Drew was the ring leader.
The view again from Kim and Jason's back yard. Love.
Drew on their deck, love this picture.
Hannah hanging out as well, too cute! Kim gave up a bunch of Smart wool products from where she works, Hannah is sporting a super cute Smart wool hat! Thanks Kim!!
During their quiet time just hanging out
horse ride prep
Very serious while learning and listening to the instructor
Drew found his own entertainment since he couldn't go up the mountain.
We went shopping downtown steamboat after horse back riding, gorgeous day!
On the drive way, we stopped to soak in a gorgeous view. I love this with Drew playing with his car.
My two favorite people
My three favorite people!!
While we did not manage to get a group photo with everyone, we managed to have plenty of fun with the Kourkoules family. We have missed them so much over the last few years with all of us moving away from Mpls. Seeing them was the best medicine for life anyone could ask for. We have so missed their friendship, comfort, laughs, and familiarity. Seeing them was like nothing had changed, except the many miles that separate us from seeing each other as often as we would like.
Thanks Kim and Jason for a wonderful weekend, and especially for being some of the best friends we could ever ask for. We love you guys, and miss you so much!!! XOXO
