Wednesday, family fun day!Today was our first day of vacation with just the four of us, what to do? We made our own fun, we started the morning with me getting a little lost in the siesta key area trying to find a drive thru starbucks. It only took an hour, but I found it. It was really fun with Drew in the back seat asking every 30 seconds, "where's starbucks, where you going, mommy you lost?" I eventually found my way, and my coffee. Then headed to the beach and played for a little while.
The kids think is is really fun to make their own forts with towels and lawn chairs. Todd and I have learned to pack extra towels now. They get such a kick out of it. They loved to play under their fort and giggle away.
As promised, Hannah got her hair wrap today she has been waiting patiently for since we arrived. And Drew did a great job of eating ice cream while we waited for Hannah. Nothing like bribery by ice cream.
Finally we hit the pool after lunch. Hannah did awesome today as she played with her dive rings and can finally pick up all the rings on the bottom of the pool with out coming up for air. We are so proud of how far she has come in the pool over the last year. And Drew, what you see is what you get in this photo. I forgot to post from yesterday, but my favorite part of the whole day is when we were in the pool and he was in his floatie just like the picture here and was kicking away and looks at me and says " mommy, I so happy right now". I said "you are?" And she smiles, "yeah, I just so happy!" It was so cute and makes the whole vacation worth every penny.
After the pool, it became family nap time as everyone fell asleep some where whether beach or condo, we had a family full of tired people. After our power snoozes, we headed to Siesta Village and at The Hub for some fish tacos and chips and dip... yum! Here is Todd and Drew at dinner having fun. We asked the kids what their favorite part of vacation was so far. Drew answered "playing with Hannah". And Hannah answered " getting a hair wrap, and playing with Drew, Mommy and Daddy and also mentioned she really missed Murphy.
After dinner tonight, we walked down the street for some ice cream, and yes.. the second ice cream trip for the day. It's vacation after all. Drew took down his super man ice cream cone like I have never seen before. Ate from all different directions and ended up with most of it on his shirt and face. Made for an entertaining treat.
After ice cream, headed back to the beach to play soccer, and run around the beach. There wasn't much of a sunset tonight as it was overcast and windy. But the kids had so much fun running around. We played tag, and the kids acted like they were running just like mom down the beach :)
Anyone who has been to Siesta Key knows there are some great sand sculptures on the beach, but this guy might win the prize. Yesterday he did Sheriff Woody, and today was Buzz Lightyear. The detail was amazing. Even the back of Buzz's foot was written "andy" just like the movie in the exact same way. He is pretty amazing. Drew was standing next to it saying "to infinity and beyond"
And last but not least, Todd was trying to get some cute photos of Hannah, and she busted right into her little model pose. While we take a ton of photos, it is definitely less this year as the kids won't stand still for 2 seconds, and it is just as fun to run around with them and play. I think the days of saying hey, sit here and smile are over. Now we just need to capture them as they are :)
Tomorrow's forecast isn't looking too hot. We may play it by ear and there is possibility we will end up at Sea World if rain is in the forecast for Siesta. Wish us luck.
