Yesterday we decided to go exploring and headed to Stone Mountain, or as Todd would call it "Mount Southmore". Stone Mountain is about 30 miles south of Marietta and is really beautiful. It is the largest exposed granite in the world with a carving in the mountain of Stonewall Jackson, Jefferson David and Robert E Lee. We got a little tour of history, a train ride, a boat ride, and 4D Yogi Bear Movie ( kids loved it) and went through the pumpkin festival all set up for fall with pumpkins and fall activities. It was a perfect fall day and a lot of family fun.
The best part was the duck boat. Filled with music, and quackers... the kids got these "whistles" that make quack noises and look like a duck's bill to quack throughout the boat tour. It was pretty funny, and cute to watch them have so much fun with it. I am sure will be making another trip or two out here with visitors. We have a lot more quacking in us, stay tuned.
Our fall is filling up fast with friends and family visiting, football games and mini vacations along the way, which we are so excited for. We are hoping to find some time in there to head to the north Georgia to the Blue Ridge mountains to do a little exploring. And if we don't get any snow this winter, we promised Hannah we would take her to the Smokey Mountains just a few hours away for tubing. Who knew we would move south and then head to the snow for fun. I guess it can be a novelty when you aren't stuck in it for 6 months :)
