This past weekend I took the kids to see Grandma and Grandpa in Siesta Key while Todd stayed behind for work. It was a short little long weekend trip and we made the most of it. Drew and Hannah could not wait to look for sand dollars with Grandpa. Grandpa has quite the collection of sand dollars from all his years of going to Siesta Key and he made sure the kids found some of their own.
There were some really awesome shells on the beach and we spent a long time trying to find ones that didn't have live animals in them so we could take them back to the condo and clean them up as souvenirs. Hannah and Drew loved cleaning out the shells and laying out all their hard work. There were some really pretty ones.
Here is Hannah and Grandpa looking for those shells and sand dollars on the beach. It was chilly morning, but warmed up to be a beautiful day by the afternoon.
The last day on the beach we came out to quite a few sand sculptures that the kids enjoyed looking at. Here is Hannah and Drew posing in front of one of them.
This was right before we headed back to the airport. Trying to get a good picture with sun in everyone's eyes was not easy.
Out of order, but another sand sculpture
3 Happy and 1 grumpy. That is the emoji pillow that Hannah had to have and somehow she managed to con Grandma and Grandpa into buying it for her. It often does represent her mood these days though.
Overall, we spent the majority of our time going back and forth from beach to pool, pool to beach, and back to beach and pool, as well as A LOT of skim boarding for Drew. In between all the sun and playing, there was also a lot of eating at Captain Curt's, ice cream, and watching the grammy's together. We were glad Hannah was able to tell us who all the artists are since we seem to be out of touch these days.
Thank you grandma and grandpa for having us and putting up with all the chaos. The kids enjoyed their time away and spending time with you. We look forward to seeing you in Atlanta on your way back.
