Finally Drew got in the picture after wrangling him in. You can tell he has a pretty honest smile there.. ( not). Hannah has a bandage on her head from getting stitches last week, but she will be fine and back to normal in no time.
After church we headed downtown and had dinner at Two Urban Licks. I think this is the first time the kids had even been to an "adult" restaurant. They were upset at first when they realized there was no kids menu. But after diving into some amazing apple cidar chicken and white truffle mac and cheese I think they decided the adult food was just fine. After having a delicious meal and drew pretty much inhaled chocolate fudge from his sundae, we were going home to open family presents.
The fastest way to get your kids to go potty, brush their teeth and wash hands and get jimmies on it to tell them no presents until all that is done. Lightening speed, they were ready and opening presents. They got a cool keyboard from grandpa, nerf guns, card maker, clothes and coloring books from all the Steinemann family. There are so lucky and loved all their gifts.
This year I took each kid shopping with a $20 limit to pick a gift out for each other. Hannah picked out floating sand for Drew and Drew picked out shopkins for Hannah. Here is their thank you hug. they know each other well and loved their gifts from each other, but I think they liked picking them out and giving them more than receiving. It was really cute.
About 10pm, the kids finally got to sleep. Santa and his elves got to work. Stockings were filled, presents were under the tree, cookies had been eaten and the kids were excited.
I was not feeling very Merry at this point and sent her back to bed.
She came back at 3:15am, then at 4am, and brought Drew with her at 4:30am, finally at 5am I gave in and we opened up the gifts. Yawn...
Hannah was all excited to open up a "surprise egg". Don't ask.. but it is a marketers lottery ticket. A plastic egg, wrapped with playdoh, filled with bunches of tiny junk. But Hannah loved it.
If you can't tell from Drew's expression, he was pretty excited to get a drone with a "spy camera". He was jumping up and down soon excited. He has already had a lot of fun with it!!
Christmas isn't over until we end up at the Jaillets house to exchange presents and celebrate together. The selfie stick came out and the kids had a blast with it. Lila's grandma gave Hannah and Lila matching minion hats which were super cute. This picture is of them taking a selfie to send her a picture of them thanking her for the hats!
Then they had their matching "sleepover hoodies" that Susan bought for them. Since they have a sleepover pretty much every weekend, they can now where their hoodies together. Pie face was also a big hit that Todd and I got the kids and we brought it over to play. There is nothing more fun than watching whip cream getting thrown into Drew's face :)
We had such a fun Christmas, we just there was family here to celebrate with us. Hannah and Drew told us it didn't quite feel like Christmas without having people stay here! But, we enjoyed our sacred family time and loved every minute of it.
