Mt Bethel Season Opener

Today has already been an action packed Saturday. Drew played soccer at 9am for the Black Ninjas and then went straight to Flag football at 10am to play for the Seattle Seahawks.  Drew woke up this morning all excited saying "today is the season opener, lets go, lets go". And off we went.

Drew played his little heart out. The ultimately lost the game, but they all played really well. Drew had about 6 or 7 shots on goal, each one barely  missed. The corner kick he had in shot was amazing. World cup style in the middle high in the air. Unfortunately it was a little much for the little ones to keep up with.

This little boy Drew is going against here was the best player on the other team, also big brother to one of Hannah's little soccer friends. They went head on the entire game and did great. It was fun to watch.  After the game, Drew headed to the porta pot to change into his football uniform. That won't happen again. After he got his shirt on backwards, shorts all twisted and was crying cause the smell, we finally get him to the field. I told his next time if would be just fine to change in the woods:)

Here is my future Ohio State running back, #13. Todd nicely reminded me that Maurice Clarett was also #13, which we don't want him exactly following in his footsteps, just the winning the national championship part.    Flag football is quite interesting to watch. They basically hike the ball, the and running back runs his heart out. There were a few passes, but it is pretty much a running and hope for the best kind of game at this age.

Drew got to play running back a few times and he was pretty darn good. He is fast and agile out there and really fun to watch.  We fibbed about his age a bit as this is for 1st and 2nd graders, so Drew and his buddy Zach are by far the youngest and smallest on the team, but by the way they played, you would never know. They are both tough little players.

As much as I don't want Drew to play football when he gets older, I have to say he does love it and it is fun to watch.  I just don't want my baby getting hurt :)

Hannah has her Nasa soccer season opener this afternoon. She is excited and we are looking forward to watching her play.   I am thinking I won't have a fall or spring saturday free for the next 12 years so I should get used to this :) I wouldn't have it any other way though. I love watching these kids.
